A World Away Toronto Indie Music Festival

We are all different people from different walks of life, and the one thing that brought us together is one song, and everyone is giving their own inputs, their little flavors into it, to make something so grand and so emotional.

- Amanie illfated, South Sudanese singer

Hosted by Emerging Young Artists to celebrate a range of talents inspired by individual cultural heritages, this is the biggest musical event showcasing the best of what Canada’s emerging ethnic music scene has to offer.

From spicy Latin beats to fragrant enchanting South Asian vibes, this event takes everyone on a journey across the globe exploring mashups of traditional and contemporary music.

The well established musician and winner of the ‘Ella Fitzgerald Award For Jazz Performance (2016),’ Natasha Roldán. Her positive tones - which are inspired by traditional jazz and Latin-American/European music - will surely put a smile on everyone’s face.

On the other hand, we are joined by one of the Toronto’s rising Hip Hop stars - Isaac Kabongo or as he likes to be known - Stretch Turner. Part of a rap collective named 16 Bars he has released numerous EPs through iTunes and Spotify.

A late addition, we have Beatsync. An eight-piece ensemble from Toronto. They excel in livening up the audience with a diverse arrangement from electropop to slow jams and everything in between. These guys do not like to stay inside the box and their sound is very unique.

In total there will be more than 25 artists making an appearance at Daniel’s Spectrum on the night. That’s a lot of talent for one list. This was just a fraction of the highlights.
